State Trooper Andy Hitt visited the Rupert Rotary Club to talk about vaping and how are young people are being targeted to participate in this harmful habit.
According the South Central Health District, the Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes or vaping) are battery operated products designed to turn nicotine and other chemicals into a aerosol. You then inhale the aerosol. These products are often made to look like:
- Cigarettes
- Cigars
- Pipes
- Pens
- Modifiers (Mods)
- Pods (ex. Juul)
E-Cigarettes may contain ingredients that are known to be toxic to humans. Because clinical studies about the safety of e-cigarettes have not been submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you have no way of knowing:
- If they are safe
- Which chemicals they contain
- How much nicotine you are inhaling
E-cigarettes work by heating a liquid to generate an aerosol commonly called “vapor” that a user inhales
Andy encouraged the community to work the Central Public Health District as well as law enforcement and the local Government to learn more and how to curtail this very harmful habit.
Ben Nelson, Rotarian from the Burly Club helped introduce and support Mr. Hitt.
